Description
A male head, of which only the eyes are crisp, dissolves into a mottled background with ghostly light blues and dark red corners. Around the face phantom elements could just suggest old European court wigs, while below the head the morphing elements perhaps ..
suggest a sculptural bust and plinth.
Visual Reference and Source Material
The portrait is a composite average of publicly available photographs of the last six full presidents of the Republic of South Africa. Spanning from the previous apartheid regimes of PW Botha and FW De Klerk, into the new democratic ANC regimes of Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki, Kgalema Mothlante and Jacob Zuma.
