One Thread Advertising is a Johannesburg-based advertising agency — events, design, digital, video production. I’ve worked there as Lead Developer and Systems Architect since 2013, building and maintaining the technical systems: multi-tenant web platforms, e-training academies, production pipelines.
Thirteen years at the same desk, more or less. Not glamorous. But continuous.
Lens: persistence as generator
The README describes a system “designed to persist, to process, and to yield.” One Thread is where that idea lives commercially — not as theory but as practice. The technical work here tests ideas about governance, boundaries, and system design at production scale, over years. What you learn maintaining client systems for a decade feeds back into how you think about any system, including an art practice.
Or to put it less grandly: it’s the day job, and the day job teaches you things.
